Winter Maintenance - Fuccillo Mitsubishi - Watertown, NY

Even with winter approaching fast, there is still time to bring your Mitsubishi in for a safety check and winterizing treatment.

You probably keep to a regular maintenance schedule as recommended by Mitsubishi, but sometimes it’s smart to get a seasonal touch up as well. If you (and perhaps your Mitsubishi too) are new to snowy winters it might be a good idea to talk to one of our factory trained technicians about getting your vehicle ready for freezing temperatures. People in New York State have to pay special attention to the approach of winter.

The areas most sensitive to temperature change will be the fluids and your tires. The most fundamental step you should take is to have the tires rotated and checked for wear and tear. You might want to consider a new set of snow tires if it’s about time to replace them. It’s always a good idea to replace all 4 tires at the same time. Some people like to maintain separate seasonal sets of tires, if you have the room to store them!

When you bring your vehicle in to your Mitsubishi shop for a rotation, the mechanic will also do a visual safety check. This is an important feature of tire rotation.

Your Mitsubishi’s owner's manual, or your mechanic, will be able to give you a recommended tire rotation schedule and a diagram of the rotation pattern that should be followed. Typically, rotation is done every 5,000 miles with a "cross-rotation" pattern. The technician will move the front tires to their opposite sides and to the rear; rear tires will changes sides and be moved up to the front.

As well as rotation, keep an eye on the air pressure. Freezing temps can wreak havoc on your tire pressure. If you don't know how to do this, your Mitsubishi dealer is the best place to turn for help. Driving when the tires are not properly inflated causes undo wear and hurries tread wear and separation. And it’s also a good idea to check the condition of your spare – you wouldn’t want to be in need of it only to find it is not usable.

If you do nothing else, have the cooling system checked when you get those tires rotated. Since the car heater and defroster are dependent on the cooling system, make sure those heater hoses and radiator hoses are checked.

Other items you should look at if you can: switching to lighter-weight oils, checking the battery condition and replacing wiper blades if necessary.

Another tip: keep the gas tank as full as possible during winter. Keeping it fuller limits condensation in the gas tank and minimizes water accumulation which can freeze in the fuel line. And, you hopefully will never run out of gas in a blizzard!

So don't wait until there’s snow on the ground, bring your Mitsubishi in to Fuccillo Mitsubishi for maintenance service!

Mitsubishi Mirage Service - Fuccillo Mitsubishi - Watertown, NY

If this is your first car, you have probably received some advice from friends and family about taking care of it. Following the correct maintenance schedule is an essential aspect of keeping your Mirage in the best condition possible and to keep your warranty valid! It’s always a great feeling to have your super sharp Mitsubishi Mirage running at top performance!

When you purchased your Mirage, you received an Owner’s Manual that will have the basic maintenance schedule included. Depending on how hard you drive your Mirage, the suggested schedule should be followed. If you are putting on more miles than what you see in the Manual, you might want to discuss it with a factory trained technician to see what changes you should make with the standard schedule.

To take the best care of your new vehicle, Mitsubishi recommends servicing by professional Mitsubishi mechanics probably at the place you purchased it, or at a Mitsubishi authorized shop.

You should know that there are parts of the engine that require inspection or replacement at regular intervals. Parts like spark plugs, air and fuel filters, ignition cables, and other emissions-related components should be inspected regularly and replaced before they wear out to keep the engine running in top shape. This could have a big effect on your gas mileage. The process of making sure each of these items is in good working condition is called a tune up. You will probably have to leave your Mirage for a few hours while this is performed; the best way to do this is to drop it off in the morning and pick it up at the end of the day.

Not only does your Mirage’s overall performance depend on proper maintenance, but also, more specifically, the emissions control system. Mitsubishi recommends you bring your Mirage to the dealership every 60,000 miles for a tune up to make sure everything is performing as it should. Having your vehicle maintained at an authorized Mitsubishi dealer provides a record of your maintenance should your ever require a warranty repair.

And of course, proper maintenance can prevent vehicle problems before they occur, saving you grief with unexpected repairs and giving you peace of mind every time you drive!

Mitsubishi Lancer Maintenance - Fuccillo Mitsubishi - Watertown, NY

As you probably know, in order to maintain the warranty on your Lancer it’s important to follow the correct maintenance schedule. The best way to understand what you need to do is to take a look in the Owner’s Manual when you first get your car. That way you’ll have an idea about milestones to watch out for as you enjoy driving your Lancer.

Only you know how well you treat your vehicle, how rough the usage has been, or not, so you are the first one to judge when certain services will be required.

Your judgment comes in very important in determining what kind of driving you do. You might ask yourself how often you may encounter the driving conditions below:

  • Drive on rough, muddy, sandy or salt-spread roads
  • Tow or taxi (maybe you do Uber or Lyft on the side)
  • Commercial operation
  • Extensive idling and/or low speed operation
  • Repeated short-trip operation at freezing temperatures
  • Extended use of brakes while driving
  • Hot, city driving (90 degrees plus)

It’s a good idea to let your mechanic know if any of these conditions apply, he could have some good advice to keep your Lancer in top shape. Proper maintenance will help to prevent vehicle problems long before they occur, avoiding unexpected repairs down the road.

Some people may consider regular maintenance a nuisance, there are so many other things that need to be done! But if you build a relationship with your dealership, regular maintenance can become quick and easy.

Your Mitsubishi dealer will keep all your records on file, just a click away. You won’t have to worry when something was done, or not, or search for any paperwork before you come in. Mitsubishi suggests these points below as a basic maintenance timetable; how you answered the questions above might change when you have something done by shortening the intervals between service:

5,000 miles/every 5 months - Inspect disc brake pads and rotors, inspect suspension system, inspect driveshaft boots, and rotate tires. Under severe usage conditions, get all of these done a bit earlier, every 3,750 miles or 4 months.

15,000 miles/every 15 months - Check the fluid level of the reserved tank for the active center differential (ACD), check condition of brake hoses, inspect ball joint and steering linkage seals. Check air purifier filter for any sign of clogging, replace if necessary and replace air cleaner element.

30,000 miles/every 30 months - Check the level of the manual transaxle oil and change if necessary; check the level of the transfer oil and change if necessary; change the engine coolant; change the rear axle oil, check the entire fuel system for leaks, check the condition of the fuel hoses, replace generator/water pump/power steering pump drive belts, service and check the entire exhaust system.

60,000 miles/every 60 months - Inspect the radiator and heater hoses/coolant hoses, replace as needed. Check for any leakage and clogging in the evaporative emission control system; check and replace spark plugs - and it’s probably time to get the timing belt replaced.

Fuccillo Mitsubishi is proud to be your go-to Mitsubishi dealership for both purchase and maintenance. Our service professionals can help you understand the warranty and the program for the appropriate maintenance for your Lancer.

Mitsubishi Outlander Maintenance - Fuccillo Mitsubishi - Watertow, NY

Once you’ve gotten your new Outlander, and you want to maintain that new car feel for as long as you can, there’s one thing you can’t ignore: regular maintenance. The best way to understand your maintenance schedule is to page through the Outlander Owner’s Manual. Most important at season change is to get a safety check, particularly tires and oil to make sure you have the winter specs all in place.

If you drove your Outlander in the summer this year and are preparing to switch over from the AC to the heater, you might also want to have the Cabin Air Filter inspected and perhaps replaced.

The air you feel when you turn on your heating or the air conditioner originates from the same place: the outside of the car. Pulling that air in requires it to pass through the air filter for cleaning. The filter functions long and hard season after season, capturing the dust, dirt and harmful pollutants from before they can enter the cabin of your Outlander. When everything is working as designed, the cabin air filter keeps the cabin air clean for you.

The filter does get old and does start to wear out at varying time increments depending on how you use your Outlander, becoming less and less effective. Not only will the air quality suffer but also since there is stress on the air flow, the power and efficiency of your heater will suffer. Something you won’t be happy about on a freezing, snowy day!

Sometimes we get confused between the air filter and the cabin air filter; the air filer is under the hood and cleans the air that goes into the engine to burn fuel. The cabin filter brings air from outside into the cabin to be either heated or cooled. Checking and changing these two filters are two separate jobs that should be part of your regular maintenance.

Let us at Fuccillo Mitsubishi inspect the condition of your Outlander cabin air filter before temperatures start to drop. While you’re here, we can take a look at your anti-freeze and other fluids too to make sure you’ll make it through winter without any mechanical missteps!

Fuccillo Mitsubishi recommends using genuine Mitsubishi Outlander parts, which we keep well stocked at Fuccillo Mitsubishi.

2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport - Fuccillo Mitsubishi - Adams, NY

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport earns its trim name by offering a sportier look than some of the plainer compact crossovers in the segment.  It ranks as one of the more affordable crossover utility vehicles though it offers a lot of value for the money in features and options. The Outlander Sport shows superiority in the segment with the quality and quantity of its standard equipment and its outstanding safety ratings.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has a new nose design, incorporating the latest Mitsubishi styling flair. Called the "Dynamic Shield" front end, it brings the Sport closer in look to others in the Mitsubishi line. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is by far the most popular model in Mitsubishi’s U.S. lineup - making it also a great investment for a future trade-in!

The Outlander Sport interior feels larger than you would expect when looking from the outside. The interior look is clean and minimalist. Soft-touch materials line the dash and for 2016 there's a new light-gray interior option.

Up front, the seats are comfy and supportive, in back two adults or three children can be accommodated very comfortably. The seats have nicely contoured back rests, dual cup-holders, and a fold-down padded armrest. The rear seats are easy to fold with a 60/40 split. When these are down the cargo space opens impressively – plenty of space for weekend gear, furniture or groceries. A pass-through in the rear seat is also very helpful.

Boarding the cabin has a nice, rather effortless feel, the vehicle level is lower than larger crossovers making it much easier for kids and older persons to board.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has superior maneuverability, making it a great city navigator. The drive experience is more like a sedan than an CUV. It drives and corners with a light, responsive feel for efficient city driving. Out on the road, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport shines with comfort and provides an ultra-smooth, quiet ride. The Outlander Sport delivers the best of both driving worlds.

Trim levels for the Outlander Sport start with the base ES, move up to the SE and SEL to the high-spec GT model.

Two engines are offered for 2016, along with optional all-wheel drive in both. A five-speed manual gearbox is available on the base 2.0 ES model with front-wheel drive; the other trims come with the continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Safety features that you won't find in many other comparable models can be found on the Outlander such as front knee airbags standard; keyless entry, automatic climate control, and a 140-watt sound system are all included. Top-of-the-line SE models include a panoramic sunroof, premium audio, and heated seats.
