The SE and SEL version are powered by a 2.4 liter four cylinder delivering 166 horsepower and available as an all wheel drive. It offers a redesigned suspension that makes it more rigid.

Driving with kids is stressful and especially when you have more than one in the car with you, things can really start to get out of hands. Whether it is a short trip to the market or a long road trip including the whole family, flowing conversations can become a cause of distraction as well. Make sure you buckle up and follow the following tips to drive safely with your children because being in the car business, we frequently come across adults driving unsafely with their children.

Seat Them in the Rear

If you have only one child and you’re driving alone with them, it makes sense that you would put them in the front seat but it’s still unsafe. You should do everything in your power to keep your child safe and that means not seating them in the front but at the back, no matter what and how much they plead against it. The fact is the impact of a collision is higher in the front so make sure you buckle them up properly at the back.

Disable Passenger Airbags

Airbags prevent damage in case of an accident but they’re designed to prevent damage for adults. If your child is small, the chances are that an airbag can do the opposite of what it is supposed to do; it can suffocate or injure them. Until your child comes of age, disable the airbag or make them sit in a seat where there isn't one.

Avoid Overusing the Child Safety Seat

You must always seat your toddler in a child safety seat but avoid overusing it as well. Don't use it as the baby’s seat outside of the car, as well because it isn't advisable to make them sit on it for long periods of time without a break because their muscles are under developed. This should especially be taken into account when going on a long trip with your toddler. Make sure you take frequent breaks and allow them to rest in a comfortable sleeping position other than the seat.

Whether you’re a new parent or relatively new, the importance of safe driving with your kids cannot be stressed enough. Too often, it is overlooked and placing your child in the safety seat isn't everything to prevent or avoid inevitable damage. Make sure you always drive with an alert mind and extra carefully with kids in the car. Make sure you and the kids are buckled up and there are no distractions in the car. If you can try to avoid driving alone with the kids and make sure, there is another adult in the car. However, this could be difficult to do for most parents but when you can, make sure you follow this advice.

Most car drivers, when it comes to replacing windshield wipers, find themselves waiting until the last moment such as heavy rain or snowfall. Windshield wiper blades need to be replaced at least once a year depending on how roughly or smoothly your car is treated. They are critical to driving safely and you must not ignore replacing them, especially when you find out they have outlived their life.

Here are a few things to consider to land yourselves the best windshield wiper blades, because with the flood of choices available out there, it is not an easy decision.

3 Wiper Blade Styles You Should Know About

Before we start, there are three basic styles of wiper blades that you must know about. Anything else that you see is a variant of these styles. The most common wiper blade is a traditional frame style incorporating a metal framework. This kind of blade can be seen installed on most of the vehicles. You will find that it is affordable, readily available, and widely used. If you are faced with harsh winter weather, the winter wipers may be suitable for your use. The blade used in this style is covered with rubber that allows it to remain snow free. The last kinds of wipers you’ll find in the market are premium wipers that promise a sleek and stylish look with a longer life. These come in variants of a spring steel band, silicone, or double rubber technology that increases their functionality.

Choosing the Right Wiper: What to Keep In Mind

There are a few things that you must keep in mind when installing and choosing new wiper blades. First, you must know the kind of connectors that fir your vehicle to install the wipers. The most common type of connectors is hook style but there may be pins, pinch tabs or bayonet mounts on some of the vehicles.

You must also know your wiper blade size, which you can check in the owner’s manual. Nothing is more frustrating that buying your wiper blades only to find out that they are the wrong size. Most often, consumers like to replace their wipers with the same ones previously installed on their vehicle. However, there is no hard and fast rule about it. You can choose any as long as they serve the purpose. Most wipers work good for at least six months or so but as soon as you find them leaving marks on the windshield after wiping, it’s time to install new ones.

We deal with many old car owners at Fuccillo Mitsubishi in Watertown helping them buy a new car at the best price. If you’re also looking for a new or used car, we can help you. We understand your priorities when it comes to buying a car and show you options that best match your priorities.

Without doubt, the car mirrors are one of the most important safety accessories for your car. Mirrors help eliminate blind spots, provide rear view, side view, and add glam to a car depending on the kind and style that you choose to install. All cars come with standard side view and rearview mirrors but you can use additional ones that help make driving safe. To install these, use the following mirror guide to know your mirrors so that you are well aware of what you want to get:

Heated and Electric Wing Mirrors

Electric car wings can be adjusted from the inside of a car, which makes them very convenient for use in adverse weather conditions. However, when buying electric wing mirrors make sure you know which ones are compatible with your car model and make. If you live in a place with continuous cold weather you must also look into heated wing mirrors, that defrost themselves making it convenient for the driver.

Reversing Mirrors

The reversing mirror is basically a rear view camera that provides a comprehensive view of the behind of the car than the rearview. It also has a dashboard viewer. These mirrors are very convenient to avoid driving over a pet or a bicycle that often a driver is unable to see in the rear view mirror alone. Using the reversing mirror also makes parallel parking less stressful.

Wing Mirrors

There are different types of wing mirrors that add to the driving safety. When changing lanes you might want to use an overtaking mirrors that proves helpful while for extra viewing coverage on large and small vehicles blind spot mirrors should be a necessary accessory.

Further Mirror Safety Tips

Following are some safety tips for using your car mirrors:

  • Make sure all the mirrors are clean and spotless for clear viewing
  • Make sure you are not driving with a missing mirror as it can be very dangerous and risky
  • If you have a missing mirror, get it replaced sooner than later
  • Angle your mirrors at the right position and within your line of vision so that you can see clearly
  • Make a habit of using mirrors when driving your car and avoid making guesses without looking at the mirror
  • Should you feel your car needs an extra mirror for added safety, don’t shy away from getting it installed.

You can choose to give your old car a vintage look or your peppy machine a sporty look with the kind of mirrors you choose to install. Every machine needs fluids to help it running properly and efficiently. However, when it comes to cars most new drivers are blank about all the things that help keep a car in proper shape. Most just stay focused on timely car service and while that is the best thing to do to ensure your car remains in good shape, you must also know the ins and outs of how your machine works. Here are the most important fluids your car needs to stay efficient and you must keep an eye out on them if you don't want to be asking for a lift on the side road:

Coolant

Low levels of coolant cause overheating in vehicles and if left unchecked can lead to expensive repairs. The reason for decreased coolant levels (also known as anti-freeze) is often because of a leak. You can spot a leak by bending down to check under the hood if there is a yellow fluid puddle on the ground. If all seems well, you should get your coolant flushed every 2 years or 24000 to 36000 miles.

Power Steering Fluid

Power steering fluid is essential for keeping the power steering pump, gearbox, rack and pinion lubricated as well as to create hydraulic pressure. You might think you can do without this fluid unless you feel changes or inconsistencies in the steering, in which case you must visit your mechanic firs thing.

Brake Fluid

We all know the importance of a smooth brake and what happens when it fails. The brake fluid is essential for the right hydraulic pressure needed to bring the car to a smooth halt. You should get the brake fluid checked when the brakes feel soft or too hard.

Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid is critical to keeping the gearbox lubricated, which enables the car to shift. Without a healthy level of transmission fluid, you will find it difficult to turn the wheels one rotation. As soon as you feel the transmission fluid is at decreased levels you must get it checked.

Motor Oil

When we talk about the most essential fluids necessary to maintain the car running in good shape, we can’t leave out the motor oil. It's the life and blood of the vehicle of course and keeps the engine running efficiently by easing friction. An oil change is necessary for a smooth running vehicle so make sure you don't fall back on keeping it well maintained.

By keeping an eye out on one of these essential fluids, making sure they are maintained at healthy levels and changed when required to clean any accumulated dirt or grime, you can ensure that you can speed ahead in your car without a worry. If you find your cars getting too old for such maintenance, drop by at Fuccillo Mitsubishi in Syracuse to find your dream used or new car.
