Outlander Sport

When the roads of New York State are covered with snow and ice, you’ll be happy you’re driving a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport equipped with all-wheel drive that will get you through when lesser vehicles are spinning their wheels.  Having an all-wheel drive can be a big advantage when conditions change rapidly and catch you off-guard.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport also has an excellent ground-clearance advantage with Super All-Wheel Control maximizing traction. This technologically advanced system integrates the features of Active Front Differential, Active Stability Control (ASC), Anti-Lock Braking System and Electric Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) in order to quickly adapt to swiftly changing road conditions.

If you hit a slight pothole that iced over on a cold morning with a traditional drive system you could lose traction and be in a hazardous situation in the blink of an eye. EBD assists by applying additional force to the rear brakes when needed, allowing quicker, more controlled stops even when carrying passengers and heavy loads.

If you hit a small sheet of ice on a seemingly clear, plowed street while taking a curve, you could end up sliding off the road. If wheels lose their grip on slippery surfaces or while turning, ASC automatically adjusts engine output and applies braking force at the appropriate wheels to help maintain control and prevent skidding.

Your Outlander Sport can help you hang onto the pavement by transferring power automatically to the wheels that have the best traction. This definitely reduces slippage, giving you the best opportunity for keeping everything under control.  Technologically advanced traction features are your biggest ally (other than your good judgment) when the road ahead is shifting rapidly from slushy to icy and then to loose gravel…and back again.

Some proactive precautions you can plan for now: an emergency kit, an oil grade change and special attention to your gas gauge.

Every year we seem to hear of people getting stuck in snow in some very out of the way area. Some are lucky and get out of the ordeal unscathed, for others it ends in tragedy. It’s never a bad idea to assemble a winter emergency kit and keep it in the back of your Outlander. Things to include might be a first-aid kit, an extra car blanket, boots, gloves, ice scraper, windshield washer fluid, jumper cables, flares, snow shovel, a flashlight and a supply of bottled water. Another handy item – though with your Outlander Sport  you might just use it to help others – a sack of kitty litter to spread under the tires for traction when seriously stuck in the snow.

In very cold climates, it’s not a bad idea to change to a "winter weight" motor oil, which is formulated to work in very low temperatures.  Regular weight oil grades can get too viscous when the temps start to sink to freezing and below. Look for 5w-30 which is a standard winter-weight motor oil.

Finally, keep your gas tank at least half filled all winter long. This helps reduce the chance of moisture building up in the fuel lines. Moisture can buildup creating an environment where fuel lines could freeze and fail.

Come in to see your Mitsubishi professional at Fuccillo Mitsubishi for more tips and supplies for getting your car ready for the winter!

Mitsubishi Mirage Sedan

Mitsubishi Motors North America announced in November of 2015 the details for a fuel-efficient 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage which would feature a new exterior design, improved performance and enhanced interior appeal. The new model would offer impressive fuel economy, attractive pricing and industry leading new vehicle and powertrain warranties. And it has delivered.

The main changes for 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage start on the outside, presenting itself with a new hood, grille, bumpers, lighting, wheels, and rear spoiler. The exterior styling was given a more self-assured look, with an aerodynamic design to maximize fuel-efficiency and a simple, restrained form to help reduce weight. Mitsubishi has created in the 2017 Mirage a car in which form and function come together.

The renewal continues inside, where new seat and wall fabrics, instruments, the gauge cluster, steering wheel and shift panel are all redesigned and improved. Options for this years’ model include a new 300-watt Rockford-Fosgate™ audio system with EcoPunch™, as is an in-car display audio supporting Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ - for the first time in an American Mitsubishi.

While the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder DOHC carries over to this new model, a new roller-type camshaft to produce 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque has been added. Those figures may seem modest but it brings the power is up by four horses. The front brake discs are larger, as are the rear drums. The brake pad/shoe material has also been improved for even better stopping performance. The suspension has had upgraded modifications as well. Optimizing the spring rate and damping force of the shock absorbers while adding stiffness to the front end bring on the handling and stability improvements.

Every 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage comes equipped with a wide array of safety features and technologies. A seven air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) comprised of dual front air bags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, dual side-impact curtain air bags, and a driver's knee air bag; 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist; a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS); and Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL). Mirage models equipped with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) also include Hill Start Assist (HSA) and better gas mileage.

The Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback became available at Mitsubishi dealers in spring 2016; the budget-friendly little hatchback features updated styling and equipment inside and out. And it holds its promise to be one of the least expensive cars on the market - with that attractive pricing and 10-year warranty, the Mirage really takes on the competition by storm!

With so many standard features, best-in-class legroom and fuel economy, an available Bluetooth® Handsfree System, getting a Mirage is the easy choice to make; finding which one fits your preferences and budget will be the hard part – come in to Fuccillo Mitsubishi and we’ll guide you through all the options!

Mitsubishi Lancer

For some, regular maintenance may appear to be a nuisance and/or time-consuming. But if you are very familiar and experienced with checking fluids, doing oil changes, and the like, it probably comes as second nature to you. Some car enthusiasts really enjoy checking off their auto-care ‘To Do List’ as the years go by, and take great pride in it.

If you’re not one of those, you can just take your baby to an auto shop when the maintenance documents tell you it’s time for your Lancer to get its checkup.  Once you’ve established a good rapport with the dealer and/or mechanic, they can let you know when it’s time to check on and/or replace something.

If you’re someone who drives their vehicle hard and can include severe driving conditions in your driving scope, you might want to be extra careful with your maintenance and mechanic visits. Severe driving conditions can include driving on all kinds of rough and rough-ish ground surfaces: uneven, bumpy, sandy, muddy, salty; even using brakes excessively and spending half or your operating time in stop and go traffic. Driving frequently in very hot weather, driving at low a speed constantly and having the car excessively idle, are all conditions that can be detrimental to the engine.

The Basic milestones are:

5,000 miles, or roughly every 5 months, have the disc brake pads and rotors inspected; inspect suspension system, inspect driveshaft boots, and rotate tires. Under severe driving conditions, it is a good idea to get all of these done on a 4- month timetable.

15,000 miles, or roughly every 15 months, check the fluid level of the reserved tank for the active center differential, check condition of brake hoses, inspect ball joint and steering linkage seals, replace air purifier filter, and replace air cleaner element. Again, for severe car usage, you might want to shorten the length of time between inspections. For the air purifier filter, check it for any sign of clogging. You may be able to do some of these yourself, as some are simple visual inspections, have your mechanic point out how.

30,000 miles, or roughly every 30 months, check the level of the manual transaxle oil and change the manual transaxle oil; check the level of the transfer oil and change the transfer oil; change the engine coolant; change the rear axle oil; check the entire fuel system for leaks, check the condition of the fuel hoses; replace generator/water pump/power steering pump drive belts. This is the time to check and service the entire exhaust system (30,000 miles or 32 months, whichever comes first). For severe car usage, shorten the time frame for the transaxle oil to about 16 months.

At 60,000 miles, or roughly every 60 months, have the radiator and heater hoses inspected as well as replaced where necessary. Check for any leakage and clogging in the evaporative emission control system, check and replace spark plugs and get the timing belt replaced. For severe car usage, make doubly sure these are done on schedule, every 60,000 miles or 64 months, whichever comes first.

Beyond those first 5 years:

100,000 MILES
RECOMMENDED SERVICES:
Engine oil (Change)
Oil filter (Replace)
Wheels & tires (Rotate)
RECOMMENDED INSPECTIONS:
Brake system
Suspension
Ball joints & steering linkage
Drive shaft

105,000 MILES
RECOMMENDED SERVICES:
Engine oil (Change)
Manual transmission fluid (Check level)
Oil filter (Replace)
Air filter (Replace)
Cabin air filter (Replace)
Wheels & tires (Rotate)
RECOMMENDED INSPECTIONS:
Differential
Brake system
Transfer case fluid
Suspension
Rear differential fluid
Ball joints & steering linkage
Drive shaft

Enjoy many enjoyable years with your Mitsubishi Lancer by keeping it on a regular maintenance with the help of our Fuccillo Mitsubish dealershipi in Watertown, NY.

Mitsubishi Mirage

Maintaining Your Mitstubishi Mirage

To take the best care of your new vehicle, Mitsubishi recommends having your Mirage serviced by the factory-trained technicians at an authorized Mitsubishi dealership – most likely the place you purchased it. To enjoy your Mitsubishi for year to come, it's best to consult your authorized Mitsubishi dealership when you have questions, check and understand the warranty and the maintenance manual regarding the appropriate maintenance schedule for your vehicle.

Following the correct maintenance schedule is an essential ingredient in keeping your vehicle in the best condition possible. Proper maintenance helps to prevent vehicle problems before they occur, giving you peace of mind every time you drive.

It is the owner’s responsibility to maintain their vehicle in accordance with the maintenance schedules shown in the vehicle’s warranty and maintenance manual. It’s very important to be cognizant of the maintenance schedule as warranty coverage may be denied if the proper maintenance schedule is not followed!

Not only does your vehicle’s performance depend on proper maintenance, but also the continued proper functioning of the emissions control system. Mitsubishi recommends you bring your Mirage to the dealership every 60,000 miles for a tune up. Another benefit of having your vehicle maintained at an authorized Mitsubishi dealer is that it quickly and easily provides a record of your maintenance should your ever require a warranty repair.

Certain parts of the engine require inspection or replacement at regular intervals. Items like spark plugs, the air and fuel filters, ignition cables, and other emissions-related components should be inspected and replaced as needed to keep the engine running properly. The process of making sure each of these items is in good working condition is called a tune up. (See below).

For example, your car’s air filter keeps impurities from damaging the inside of your engine. Not only will replacing a dirty air filter save gas, it will protect your engine. Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your car’s gas mileage by as much as 10 percent.

Another maintenance task that can improve your gas mileage by 1-2 percent is by making sure you are using the manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. Did you know that using 10W-30 motor oil in an engine designed to use 5W-30 can lower your gas mileage by 1-2 %; using 5W-30 for a recommended 5W-20 can lower your gas mileage by 1-1.5 %? Also, look for blends that are labeled “energy conserving” on the API performance symbol, these blends contain friction-reducing additives.

Fixing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emissions test can improve its gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, though results vary based on the kind of repair and how well it is done. Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent!

The following are typical items that should be maintained in order to insure correct performance of your Mirage (for additional details, refer to your “Warranty and Maintenance Manual”). Standard equipment that should be checked during a tune-up:

  • Cooling system (including coolant hoses)
  • Drive belts
  • Emission system
  • Exhaust system
  • Filters: Air, Fuel, Oil
  • Fuel hoses
  • Fuel system
  • Intake and exhaust valve clearance
  • Spark plugs
  • Timing belt
  • Automatic transmission fluid
  • Manual transmission / transaxle oil
  • Clutch fluid
  • Propeller shaft
  • Rear Axle oil
  • Suspension
  • Ball joint and Steering linkage
  • Brake fluid
  • Brake hoses
  • Brake pads
  • Air conditioning
  • Battery
  • Tires

The Benefits of a Tune Up

The engine works best when each of its individual parts works correctly. Having your vehicle tuned up at regular intervals helps maximize engine performance and efficiency. After a tune up you may notice improved acceleration and fuel economy along with the smoother ride.

It always feels great when picking up your Mirage after a tune up, the engine feels spritely, smooth, no rough idle, it just has a tighter overall feel. And you have the peace of mind knowing you’re taking care of your investment and that there are no problems lurking under the hood.
