The New Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
The Outlander Sport provides a smooth, quiet ride and offers an intriguing styling that sets it apart from the rest. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport's reasonable pricing comes as a pleasant surprise. You get a lot of equipment and great fuel economy for the money with this crossover SUV!
For 2016, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport receives a new grille and other minor styling updates inside and out, along with a new 6.1-inch touchscreen interface and available power-folding mirrors.
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has been offered in two trim levels: the base ES and SE; for 2016 an SEL trim level joins the lineup
Prominent Outlander ES standard features include remote keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cloth upholstery, Mitsubishi's Fuse voice-activation system and auxiliary audio/USB input jacks.
You won't need to upgrade or get an option package for Cruise Control, which seems to be very common for vehicles in this price range. The USB port, heated side mirrors, rear center arm rest with cup holders, easy fold split rear seat and the Hill Start Assist (HSA) features are all standard. It has the nicest standard interior qualities of any vehicle in its class.
The 2016 Outlander Sport's base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is only available on the ES trim level and produces 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the front-wheel drive model, with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) offered at extra cost. The CVT is standard on the ES with all-wheel drive and all other models.
Moving up to the SE we find 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic xenon headlights, foglights, automatic climate control, keyless ignition/entry, a second-row armrest with center pass-through, upgraded upholstery and a six-speaker stereo. Heated front seats are only offered with SE AWD models and some of the standard SE features are available on the ES as options. Front-wheel drive is standard, with a three-mode all-wheel-drive system available only on the SE.
Additionally, SE AWD models are eligible for a hard-drive-based navigation system, a rearview camera, and an auxiliary video input jack. The Premium package includes a panoramic sunroof, roof rails and a superior Rockford Fosgate audio system.
Stepping up to the SEL will tack on the stronger 2.4-liter engine, automatic headlights, roof rails, power-folding mirrors, automatic wipers, shift paddles, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, alloy pedals and a sliding center armrest.
There is an optional Exterior Sport package that enhances aesthetic and aerodynamic exterior elements and adds an aluminum fuel door. The Interior package (available with automatic transmissions only) adds piano-black interior trim and an aluminum shift knob. Other add-ons include interior mood lighting, exterior protection (scuff plates, mud guards and bumper guards) and various cargo solutions. Other options include Outlander Sport remote ignition, front and rear parking sensors, a rear spoiler, a navigation system (with a 7-inch touchscreen and voice controls) and interior ambient lighting.
