2017 Mitsubishi Mirage

The Mitsubishi Mirage ES is back for 2017 with revised styling, interior enhancements, and a touch more power under its stout hood. The ‘econobox’ vehicle is back for 2017 with new styling and a few more horses under the hood, impressive fuel economy and is one of the least expensive cars available that includes a generous warranty.

Design

You’ll find a purposeful design with new front and rear fascias, new headlamps and fog lights, a new rear spoiler, and new wheels, new bumpers, headlights, and taillights. Mitsubishi has tightened up the suspension with new spring rates and shock absorbers and the front brake rotors and rear drums have been boosted in size and quality of pad material.

The recharge continues inside with nicer interior materials. A new steering wheel, gauge cluster, shift panel, new fabrics, new center-stack display which adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity with a Rockford Fosgate sound system with 300 watts of power now available. The Mirage is the first Mitsubishi product to offer those features.
The seats are exceptionally comfortable, there’s generous headroom, up to date features, amazing sound, outstanding gas mileage, and an amazingly low price. It seems Mitsubishi really listened to what this segment of buyers is looking for!

Standard Features and Options

Along with five-doors, a good warranty and a maximum fuel-economy rating, the lightweight Mirage has solid handling, superb maneuverability, and effortless controls. The five-speed manual enhances the power from the 78-hp three-cylinder, but the fuel-saving CVT is better for in-city traffic driving. The five-passenger hatchback is offered in three trim levels: ES, SE and GT.  The ES replaces the DE as the base trim level, while the midrange SE and top-of-the-line GT are new offerings.

Standard features for the base Mirage ES trim include 14-inch steel wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic headlights, LED taillights, full power accessories, a tilt-only steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seats and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and USB and auxiliary audio inputs.

The Mirage SE adds alloy wheels, foglights, a rearview camera, keyless ignition and entry, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel (with audio controls) and shift knob, Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality and upgraded interior accents.

There are several options packages available on all the trims. The Park Assist package adds front and rear parking sensors; the Rockford Fosgate Premium Audio package adds a six-speaker audio system, mentioned above. Other options include chrome exterior accents, added interior lighting and utility items like cargo nets and mud flaps. If you decide on the top-of-the-line GT you'll get 15-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights and heated front seats.

Safety Features

Standard safety features for the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage include four-wheel antilock brakes (front discs, rear drums), front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag and traction and stability control. A rearview camera is standard on the SE and GT, while front and rear parking sensors are optional on all trim levels.
